What is a Walk for Awareness?

Our Walk for Awareness promotes awareness and inclusion for people with Down syndrome and raises money to support families with children with Down syndrome in the Fraser Valley.

It is a fun-filled day spent, rain or shine, at Mill Lake in Abbotsford with family and friends. Organize a Team of buddies for your child with Down syndrome to show support.

Enjoy the activities, view the door prizes, bid on Silent Auction items, have a hot dog lunch, take a team picture, and bring your team spirit on the 2.2km walk around beautiful Mill Lake!

Our Walk for Awareness is the FVDSS’ single fundraiser. Due to your fundraising efforts, we have raised monies to support the group’s activities, such as our:

New Parent Program
Parent Evenings
Guest Speakers
Music Therapy
Fine Motor Therapy
Lending Library
Family networking events
Therapy and Educational Subsidies

This year’s Walk took place June 17, 2017.

Thank you  to all who joined us in making this year’s Walk another great success!
