Basic Sign Language for Families

This one-hour workshop will get you signing together right away!

We’ll look at helpful everyday American Sign Language signs to boost daily conversations and activities, along with playful songs and rhymes. This interactive workshop will be held via Zoom with expert baby sign language instructor, Lee Ann Steyns, who specializes in teaching families exactly how to create better communication so everyone feels more calm and confident.

The Fraser Valley Down Syndrome Society (FVDSS) is a parent-run support group based in Abbotsford, B.C. for families of persons with Down syndrome in the Langley to Hope areas (including Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge). We offer support and resources for parents and caregivers, as well as therapies and programs to aid in the cognitive, gross motor, fine motor, social and emotional development of people with Down syndrome. In our New Parent Visiting program we welcome new families who are expecting or have just welcomed a child with Down syndrome into their lives, provide them with information and offer support.
